Winner of the Friends of Minnesota Barns

2012 Barn of the Year Award for

Best Non-Agricultural Adaptive Re-Use

Green Acres, An Enchanting Event Center in a Historic Barn is the perfect venue to create beautiful and unforgettable memories in a magical, old-world setting conveniently located in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. After over two years of restoration, Green Acres officially opened March 1, 2013.

Previously the Goodrich-Ramus barn, Green Acres is the oldest standing barn in Eden Prairie and an important part of Minnesota history. In 2009, Hennepin County developed construction plans to widen Pioneer Trail and considered demolishing the barn, but the City of Eden Prairie and the Historical Society stepped in to save it. After reading an article in the Star Tribune about its demise, Steven Schussler, well-known as the creator of the Rainforest Cafe® chain of restaurants, was inspired to restore the barn.

Built in 1942, with a Gothic Arch shape roof of ancient timbers and rare yellow glazed tile, this historic barn has been meticulously and lovingly restored. Original materials were used or exposed when and where available to keep the rich history and beauty of its structure. The barn’s authenticity was preserved and complemented with the modern conveniences of heat, air conditioning, new up-to-date bathrooms, an elevator, sound system, and theatrical lighting making it desirable all year round.

Green Acres is the winner of the Friends of Minnesota Barns 2012 Barn of the Year for Best Non-Agricultural Adaptive Re-Use. It is also the first and only event center in the city of Eden Prairie Minnesota, which has been recognized as #1 Best Place to Live in America in 2010 MONEY magazine.

Create your most memorable event amongst the crystal and candlelight chandeliers, a collection of antique jukeboxes, an extravagant Italian water fountain, old fashioned player pianos, music, color and lighting. Cozy seating areas around warm fireplaces with weathered horse saddles, antique kerosene lanterns, aged furniture, and artwork makes your guests feel comfortable and transports them back to those fond bygone days of the past. As homage to its original purpose as a dairy barn, a white picket fence harbors eclectic and artfully painted cows representing Picasso, The Big Apple, and a baseball player along with classic Holstein black and white cows.

Tours and menu reviews are available Tuesday through Saturday by appointment.

"Joe and I would like to thank you and Steve for the beautiful location for our daughters wedding. It was amazing, which is what we heard all night from our guests. When we booked Green Acres my biggest concern was the off site parking, but Uptown Valet made this a plus. I also want to thank your on site crew, they were extremely helpful and always pleasant. I know that Green Acres will be a great success, my only hope is that one of Amber's friends will choose your location for their wedding and we will be invited. We have a lot of pictures, if you would like I can share some with you. Thanks so much."

EP Gives (formerly known as the Eden Prairie Foundation Ball) returned to Eden Prairie on Saturday, May 4, 2013 for the first time since 2004. The Eden Prairie Foundation hosted the public event at Green Acres, the 70 year-old site of the former Goodrich-Ramus barn. “We doubled attendance over the 2012 Ball, sold out the Barn and our net profit was up nearly 60%. We took a risk by changing the event name, location and implementing a more casual format and we are thrilled that it paid off.”
